Duvet sixing

Is it better to have a super king size duvet on a king size bed, or is that overkill and will mean lots of extra duvet hanging off the bed? I’m buying new bedding for refurbished bedroom and just wondering. Thanks

Not meaning to disrespect or upset anyone but a lot depends on what size people are in the bed. Two large people will need more duvet to cover them so a super king duvet might avoid draughty gaps. Two thin people and the super king duvet might mean too much overhang.

I’ve always sized up, didn’t think there was that much extra hanging over the sides.

I think it depends how you like to sleep! DH drapes the duvet over himself so the matching size would be fine for him, but I roll to one side then the other to make myself into a burrito, so I always need to size up!

My best friend is a housekeeping manager and always says to size up for the best coverage and says it looks better. I do agree with it depends on the size of the people but if it's a spare room and you could use it for a variety of different guests I'd size up.

I feel that putting the duvet cover on would be my deciding factor. How much more of an arse is it to cover a super king?

Rocknrollstar · 04/11/2024 14:42

Super king is much better but its difficult to get the cover on.

Two doubles is my preference. One each.

This is the only way, you'll never look back. We have a thin tog superking to pull over the top so it looks tidy, but in reality it spends most of its time folded (chucked) on a chair in the corner.

DoublePeonies · 05/11/2024 06:50

We always sized up when in a double bed, but are more than happy keeping the king sized bedding in our king bed. So, I guess it's a bit like the poster above - a king duvet provides enough coverage for me and DH!

Can you use the current bedding fir a few weeks, and see what you think before committing to a new purchase?

100% recommend sizing up! I have a super king duvet in king bed. Don’t find it much of a faff changing it either.
