Please It is a vital question

It needs to look clean/hygienic which would imply white - but white would be a nightmare to keep clean

Dark. We have some old navy blue ones (I know, not particularly trendy) and I use them when I colour my hair (dark) etc. and they never show up stuff

Brangelina · 25/04/2008 22:40

Dark brown

CarGirl · 25/04/2008 22:41

dark towels show up toothpaste and if the dye fades look scruffy/tired quickly IME

Something with a bit of pattern?

smurfgirl · 25/04/2008 22:41

Mid/dark blue.

KatyMac · 25/04/2008 22:43

I need to buy about 400 or 500 flannels for single use towels for the children

So Dark brown or Navy are possible

I guess I was hoping for something a little more neutral

dark brown

CarGirl · 25/04/2008 22:44

For nursery use???

Cheap flannels that get thrown in the wash bucket - as hygenic as paper towels but more eco friendly?

Bleach soak every now and then?

green which doesn't show up the snot?

CarGirl · 25/04/2008 22:45

Cross post there!

Think white would be doable with eco bleach

Countingthegreyhairs · 25/04/2008 22:45

Disagree. White no problem as can always add a bit of v. dilute bleach to wash or use strong powder for whites only which would be impossible with darker colours. Need to buy good quality white towels though or else you can't wash them at high temperatures and they go tend to go grey.

I have no difficulty keeping white towels white and we are NOT a particularly clean family ....

KatyMac · 25/04/2008 22:45

I guess white can be beached

I am worried about paint/mud/snot/sick stains really

Countingthegreyhairs · 25/04/2008 22:46

Oh sorry - white probably NOT good for nursery ...

I'd go for a bright blue I think ...

CarGirl · 25/04/2008 22:46

presumably you do a cold rinse first then a hot wash like you do with nappies?

Piffle · 25/04/2008 22:47

aqua. Looks clean. Dark colours fade and get bleach marks etc and show bobbling.

KatyMac · 25/04/2008 22:47

My mum suggested moss green

CarGirl · 25/04/2008 22:48

aqua or equivalent green shade would be best colour, any chance of getting ones with teeny patterns on that would def hide stains better.

KatyMac · 25/04/2008 22:53

I wonder how much 500 flannels are going to cost me

KatyMac · 25/04/2008 23:21

I found white ones for 22p

Sorry, but I can't help thinking about MP's sex whilst menstruating towel when I see this thread title.

I'll get my coat.
