I have a dyson but I don't think its an animal? For mine, there are pictorial instructions on the rim of the filter - which basically involves rinsing through cold water.

get another dyson to clean the first one?

Dyson filters are all different; some need a brush over, others need rinsing, others need replacing and some are lifetime ones.

Open up the filter unit and see if there are ant instructions.
