Ok heres the story.....

Moved into new flat on September 18th 2007 had tv delivered, popped to sisters came home. went into labour and 4 minutes later had baby son, spent 5 days in hospital, came home and unpacked rest of what needed to be done.

For the first few weeks everything was fine i had the place spick n span now i have let it slip, there are clothes in every room, the place is cluttered and i don't know where to begin. I go to do a room look at it and get overwhelmed so make an excuse to pick the baby up as he needs me at that precise second.
Has anyone got any tips which will get me back into the swing of things???

You did well to be spick and span initially given all of that - I'd have started and ended with a bombsite!!!

My tactic when it all gets too much is get a couple of large boxes and working room by room, empty everything into the boxes that is not supposed to be that room. Do not try and be clever and sort stuff at this moment, wil take too long and will lose momentum. That at least gives you an immediate tidying effect and some space to see wood for trees. Allocate one room that will stay trashed for now, place all boxes and any other crap in it. Clean as neccessary all newly decluttered rooms. Enjoy the space. When ready for stage 2, remove one box at a time from hell hole room and sort out properly and, preferably, with a glass of wine in the other hand.
