Is it varnished, or waxed? French polished? (not that I know the answer, but it's bound to differ depending on the sort of polish).

ItsPotatoesForYouMyLad · 24/04/2008 17:36

just varnished i think

Found this page which has various suggestions - maybe try toothpaste (but test on an inconspicuous bit first, to check it doesn't damage the varnish).

you could try bicarb by mixing it to a paste with a little water.

I'd use good old Jif cream. Or Cif, or whatever its called.

Babywipes?

nail polish remover. quickly and lightly - before it melts your sideboard too!

What's a sid?

PortAndLemon · 25/04/2008 07:43

Sid

ItsPotatoesForYouMyLad · 25/04/2008 22:28

hurrah! the cif did it (or rather 'asda' cream cleaner )
thanks for the piccy P&L - as you can see not a character you want on the front of your sideboard lol
