Non toxic laundry products

I’m trying to reduce chemicals in the home and looking at different laundry products but not sure where to start.

Interested in whether anybody has done this and what they’ve switched to? How do you know what is okay, for example the M&S ranges smell lovely and say plant based but not sure what else to look out for ingredients wise? Anybody tallow and ash? Seems pricey.

Check out Nancy Birtwhistle on SM. She's a genius for home made cleaning products and shares lots of her recipes online. If you make it yourself you always know exactly what's in it.
For off the shelf stuff, check out Miniml. I've used their laundry products before. They are one of the better eco cleaning companies for laundry detergent. Not the best on stains, but they are british made, with great ethics and ingredients.

You need to be careful to avoid green washing. There are loads of so called earth friendly products available now, but many of them are no better than standard products, just more expensive! Smol, ecover, method,.ocean saver etc aren't as green as they seem. Work out what your priorities are and do some research before you buy.
