Cleaning up broken glass

RoseDuck · 11/10/2024 17:39

A few hours ago I dropped an iridescent tumbler glass that has shattered across my kitchen floor into more pieces than I thought was possible 🙄I’ve cleaned most of it but there seems be tiny specks of glass now embedded into my vinyl (ooops!) that sweeping, bread, a damp cloth, old handheld hoover won’t pick up. Any tips for a way to get them and fully de-glass my kitchen floor before someone has an accident probably me would be greatly appreciated!

Sticky lint roller.

Lint roller is a good idea, or some wide sellotape/brown tape if you don’t have one

Press a slice of bread over the parts likely to have little pieces

The op has tried bread.

Hoover the floor.

Duct tape, lay and press over the area and peel off slowly.

Sure hoovering it would help???

It might not be glass. It might be the iridescent coating that delaminated when the glass smashed - it's now stuck to the floor giving the impression it's embedded glass.

Alternatively, did you hoover before or after you tried the damp mopping? Wait until the area's totally dry and hoover again.
