HELP! Blood stains on new carpet!

Long story short at 1am my wonderful soon to be beaten to death with a stick hubby sliced his thumb open fixing his baby computer and as a result I now have blood on the carpet in the office, hall and bathroom (NOT impressed!). I cleaned it best I could with 1)babywipes and 2) hot soapy cloths as thats all I could find at the time! Any ideas on what to use to get it out? Theyre quite hardy carpets and neutral in colour.

Any help MUCH appreciated (bit panicky about it!)

BTW - DH is fine ............now!

a little washing powder (preferably dreft) pre diluted and squirted on and rub gently with finger, mop slightly with kitfchen roll and leave to dry

cold water first, dab, don't rub.

I find the Vax cleaning solution that you use in their machines works really well as a spot cleaner

NickiSue · 23/04/2008 09:00

Thanks - will start with washing powder and maybe bleach later.
Thanks for replying!

Oh, and Mum has a vax so will ask her!

(Wont do all three at once lol!)

Three different rooms have it so might do one on each lol! (Got to laugh or I'll cry!)

Ice Cold Water and Salt i promise it will work, get the stain wet then pour the salt on leave for a minut or two then rub well and wipe off, you may need to repeat,
i hope your hot clothes weren't to hot because heat sets blood and makes it a lot harder to remove!

Hope this helps, good luck

xx

I don't think salt ever really works. Only soaks up the excess.

Vanish oxi-action carpet spray or something biological? Bio washing powder might help also...?

Sidge · 23/04/2008 09:53

You need something biological. Bio washing powder made into a paste with cold water then worked in to the stains.

Leave a while, then mop up with more cold water and blot then hoover.

NickiSue · 23/04/2008 15:10

The salt worked! All gone! Thats fantastic and very eco-friendly (I now have Vanish spray on hold under the sink though lol!)

Thanks all for your help!
