Luda
That does seem an awful lot for them to expect back.

I am very lucky that my parents gave us the deposit money on this place. Dad said it was what he would have spent on a wedding if I got married, so I may as well have it. Personally I think it was alot better use of the money.

We couldn't even afford to buy a flat round here now, even if dp could get a mortgate, which is unlikely tbh, so I am extra grateful now. (We bought before children while I was still working, and it is in my name only)

Ludaloo · 23/04/2008 12:11

We really should have bought years ago before we had the kids too.....but I guess if we had bought, we would have been less inclined to move to Wales when we did, and I'm glad we are here so that is one positive....but we have missed the boat completely now

I have come to realise that money from dad has always come with conditions really.....he paid for our wedding....but the whole thing probably cost no more than £200! He said he'd pay but we had to keep it simple....we had a registry office service and a cooked breakfast at a nearby pub! We paid for dress, suit etc, and an evening party with buffet!
If I had the money, I would love to renew our vows with a bit more style!

I am slowly plodding through the housework.

HUGE Washing pile has been put away
Last load of washing in
D/W unloaded and reloaded
Everywhere tidy except kitchen surfaces

Just the vaccing to do really

Luda that's really tough. I can understand why you feel and

FGS we have shopping trips like that too!

I'm sooo pleased we bought our house when we did, and even then it was only because we had some inheritance to put down as a deposit. There's no way we could buy here now - you can't get anything (even a 1 bed flat) here for less that £250,000[world-gone-mad]

Had a lovely time helping at school. Back to get on with some jobs now.

grouchyoscar · 23/04/2008 12:50

Pan cupboard now full of shiny pans, clean bakingtrays and cake tions
Hob cleaned
Sink 'shined'
Ed's lightbulb changed (again, you can't put a low energy bulb into a light with a dimmer switch, scary crackling)
Cat cellar cleaned out
Soiled litter hauled out of cellar and put in the bin
Cat cellar re-lined with paper and shavings
De-humidifier bucket hauled out and emptied
Make (and scoff) lunch
Check bank account

Guitar to re-string TTFN (Twang!)

TheMadHouse · 23/04/2008 12:57

Ah Luda I do feel for you. House prices are silly are they not. Parents are sillier though

Well swimming was OK, untill I got them dressed adn DS2 promptly skipped and fell in a large pool of water.

I need to crack on whilse he is asleep - yes it is raining here to

Ludaloo · 23/04/2008 13:10

Thanks ladies, I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks it is silly!

I have cleaned the kitchen now, and hoovered downstairs....just the upstairs to do now.

Afternoon everyone

Haven't done much today except cleaned toilet and a 10 min guilt blitz in the kitchen. Also tackled washing, put away 2 loads from yesterday adn 1 on today. The weather forecast rain so i didn't put on a dark jeans wash just a light one and put it in the t/d. Has been bright sunshine all day At least i didn't get wet taking DD.
DS ate a big bowl of porridge for breakfast adn is eating his lunch, amazing what a bit of my chocolate spread will do.
Really should do some more FLYing for an hour before picking DD up. Will probably play with DS instead though.
Ordered some carbon cleaner from Betterware, which my Mum said is really good adn she always has perfectly sparkling pans top adn bottom, that is my goal when it arrives. Hopefully it will work on the oven door as well, also ordered a wire brush designed to clean the shelves sparkling perfection awaits.
DS has finished adn needs industrial removal of chocolate spread.
BBl

Shannaratiger · 23/04/2008 13:32

Sorry hadn't finished
Luda about the house. We're waiting on a lottery win to be able to buy a house in Winchester.
HN glad you've got the diagnosis, hope you can now get all the help you need.
Bianca glad you got the tooth sorted.

Hello to everyone else DS has just emptied his cup all over his table.

BiancaCastafiore · 23/04/2008 13:43

Upstairs is pretty much done, I just need to finish up in the bathroom (wash bathmat, towels etc)

Going to stop for lunch and watch Doctors, then tackle a room or two downstairs before the kids get home.

grouchyoscar · 23/04/2008 13:54

My guitar n ow has it's clothes on (phew)

It has a major fault though

TheMadHouse · 23/04/2008 14:20

Well I have done the ironing - I will put it away later. I have another load in the dryer though.

I have arranged to have my hait cut and coloured next week - DS1 asked me why I had white paint in my hair

sagacious · 23/04/2008 14:28

Hi all.

Have computer back at home so hopefully can join in with Flythreads again (if not the missions LOL).

Have just recovered from horrible virus which rather ruined the Easter Hols for us (DCs had it too). Having bld tests on Mon to see why I'm always ill!

I will try and read the thread and catch up as I go.

TheMadHouse · 23/04/2008 17:47

Welcome back Scatty - hope bloods are OK

TMH - you're mad! Altough I quite often do the same.

Sorry you had a shit day Ruby. These lighter nights and mornings are seriously disruppting our sleep routines (well DCs) so we're all tired too.

grouchyoscar · 23/04/2008 20:23

10 mins before I go and collect Ed I think 'I haven'y mopped the floors' so I fioll the mop bucket and mop downstairs. Then as I'm going up to put my slippers on, take it upstairs to do the bathroom. {yep, I'm stupid) Got to school just as the bell went (phew)

On the way home Ed was invited to another classmate's house so I had a nice 1/2 hr chatting to one of the neighbours. Ed comes back with classmate who stays for an hour, goes home, comes back and is collected by his mum. Plus next doors brood were out so Ed had a fab evening. I put my foot down V hard and roped him in at 7 DH did the bath tho.

So DONE list is

Hang up wet washing for drying
Load TD and run
Mop downstairs
Mop bathroom
Collect Ed
Empty TD and take upstairs
Supervise outdoor play (Do 1st aid, wipe cuts, check fingers etc)
Make lunches for tomorrow
S&S kitchen worksurfaces
Make Ed's tea
Tidy away outdoor toys
Get Ed ready for bed
Get clothes ready for morning (and Friday)
Put away (some) of the pile of clean laundry

I'm bushed, should sleep well tonight. Have good evenings ladies

tortoise · 23/04/2008 21:14

Evening all.
Went to toddlers with DD2 this morning.
Tidied round front room a bit and hoovered.
Then it was time to pick the others up!
Washing up nearly all done tonight!

DD1 is awake with a bad cough. Hope she will be ok for school tomorrow or i will have to take her with me on the train to pick ds2's new bike up. Have a friend coming too. I asked today if she fancied a morning out. She was really keen so i am glad i asked. Gives me some company too.

Tried to phone our sw today too. Wanted to know her opinion on me asking DD's dad to contribute to dd1's party. He doesn't pay anything else to them.

Just found out from my mum that my grandad is one of 7. Why i haven't been told before i do not know! Only know now because of the group on Facebook (my surname group). Made me realise how little i know about my family.

TheMadHouse · 23/04/2008 21:16

Evening all

Back from shopping, had dinner and all put away. I am ready for bed, but need some quality time with DH.

Tort I did it and have e-mailed you

Everyone else night night

tortoise · 23/04/2008 21:19
