Yellow pillow chuck or wash?

I bought an anti allergy pillow that ds took to uni, obviously didn't use the pillow protector he was given and the pillow is now a bit yellow.

I now have it hovering between the decision - do I take it to the laundry mat to wash it?
(I have never managed to wash pillows in my washing machine).
Or do I chuck it?
DH says chuck it - but it seems wasteful .
This kind of decision just leaves so much crap in my house that I can't be decisive about!

I know for many people this is a straightforward decision!

You could try washing it at home and if that doesn't work chuck it. Pillow protectors help to stop pillows getting stained.

Make ds take it to the launderette?

Only wash it if there are no holes in the pillow seams otherwise you get a waterlogged pillow as I found out to my cost 😂

If it's a cheap pillow, I wouldn't bother as the time and effort will not be worth it.

Soak in soda crystals and hot water in the bath, marvel at the colour the water changes to, then wash as normal.

Have a look on Nancy Birtwhistles’s Insta account. She covers this very thing using natural household products.
