Ironing board for steam generator iron?

I am currently using a brabantia board for a normal iron, but I now have a steam generator one. I just sit the stream generator on the end of the board, so it uses up a little bit of space but it's still usable. I need a new ironing board cover but before I splash out, I wondered whether there were any other benefits to a board specific to steam generators than the holder being different? I do get some water drippage through this one which it would be good to avoid....

I've had one for 8 years and have used the same standard ironing board. Once I've finished some cold water does drip from the board as I'm folding it up but otherwise it's fine.

I have this one from argos. It has a rack to hold the steam generator out of the way and then the iron itself rests on the heat proof bit at the top

I use a regular brabantia board with my steam generator. I don't feel the need for a specific holder, I just put the generator on another surface next to the board. I don't think the mesh surface is any different on the SG boards. If I'm doing a lot in one session, I put an old towel on the floor under the ironing board to catch any drips.

I have a habit of just adding a new cover to my ironing board when it needs one rather than replacing and don't seem to get the water and the drips everyone's talking about with a steam generator iron. Perhaps the thick layer of covers deals with it. I store my ironing board in the airing cupboard so it must dry out if the under layers get damp.

Thanks everyone that’s really helpful.

I also have a large Brabantia board, but I have an Ikea trolley for my steam generator iron. It sits next to the ironing board.

I only got the ironing board I linked above as my old one was broken. I like the new one because it has the holder for the generator so it's not in my way
