How to stop slugs getting in?

I've had the occasional slug get in from under the back door. What can I use to stop this?

This sign works a treat, unless they are juvenile slugs and haven't yet learnt to read.

I loathe slugs, I'd sprinkle a line of salt along the bottom of the door at night. I once lived in a house where slugs would come up through the wainscot and floor. It was revolting.

The sort of copper tape you buy in Garden Centres works too. If you can work out exactly where they are coming in, you can fill the gap with foam filler. You have my sympathy!

I've tried the salt. Hopefully it will work! They seem to come in then eventually go out the same way ( I think) just wish I didn't have to see them first.

We had a bad year with them last year.
decided to use multiple methods:

-covered external air bricks with a metal mesh that still allows air in and out but too small for Slugs.

-Roll of copper mesh rolled up and placed between step and back door
-sealed/siliconed all gaps we could find in our wooden flooring/ skirting/ doorway corners etc

-moved outdoor furniture away from the back door, as was providing cover for them. Now middle of patio instead.

-nematodes purchased online and sprinkled in flowerbeds nearest to the house.

i know people think slug pellets are unkind but i also used those last autumn a lot.

Seemed to sort it from seeing multiple every evening to nothing after doing all the above in one day.

We’ll see if stays that way through autumn winter.
