Rust stain on clothing

Hello wise people on MN. I bought my DH a lovely new hoody for his birthday which was quite expensive so of course on its first wearing there is a lovely stain!

No idea what/where it is from but to me looks like rust??

I have tried, vanish, fairy washing up liquid, shaving foam and WD40 but it's not budging.

Any tips great fully received

Here it is. Please ignore the white marks around it, this is shaving foam after another failed attempt

I would suggest soaking in lemon juice or vinegar. You can also make a paste with lemon juice/vinegar and salt which you leave on for quite a while and then scrub off with something like a toothbrush or similar.

Thank you @TheRainItRaineth I will give it a go

Have you washed it using Ace Laundry Bleach? I have used it successfully on several stains but always re-wash the garment afterwards as it smells a little like a swimming pool!

Thanks for the suggestion. I have used ACE before @SleepingisanArt but only on whites. The hoody is a lilac colour. Can you get a version safe for colours?

Lemon juice and salt is great for removing rust. I sprinkle table salt onto the mark, and then drop lemon juice on the salt. Leave it for a while and it should come out.

If that doesn't work, dissolve citric acid with boiling water. Once cooled apply to the stain and leave in the sun. A sunny windowsill works if you can't put it outside. It may take a few goes but it should come out. I used this method to remove dark red oil paint from dd's white joggers!
