I've never used it but I've noticed on here that a lot of people seem to hate it! What is wrong with it please?

I like it and use it all the time. Would also like to know then what's wrong with it?

ForPearlViper · 24/09/2024 13:15

Zoflora is a disinfectant that has achieved a profile through them plonking nice fragrances in it and getting a whole pile of social media cleaning influencers to use it. Overuse of disinfectants has an environmental impact. In addition, they kill a lot of the bacteria we need in our lives to build up our immunity. Disinfectants (and indeed the amount of bleach some people use) are unnecessary in most cleaning situations. Remember the advice in pandemic - hot water and soap was sufficient.

That's why people are anti disinfectants. If it isn't necessary, why use something that has a negative impact on the planet?

Guavafish1 · 24/09/2024 17:52

It’s fine … I’ve been using it before the internet

Chateauneufdu · 24/09/2024 17:54

Full of chemicals

Lorrymum · 24/09/2024 17:54

It has been around for years. Im 66 and I can remember my Grandmother used it for everything. At the time my Mum said it was very old fashioned!

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 24/09/2024 17:55

It's just strong disinfectant, I only used it for removing the smell of vomit when ds was small.

INeedAnotherName · 24/09/2024 17:56

It shouldn't be used around pets is the main one as it's too toxic when wet. I'm not quite sure if wet paws can reactivate the toxicity shrugs

SorrowsPrayers · 24/09/2024 18:05

I have a Zoflora collection. Been using it for years. Love it!

BillieJ · 24/09/2024 18:06

As explained, it's an old fashioned disinfectant that used to have a floral scent as an alternative to Dettol. Like bleach and most strong chemical concoctions, it may occasionally have its uses, but it's overkill in most circumstances and has dire effects on the environment.

It's being marketed to a new generation that are being encouraged to buy cleaning products they don't need.

EternallyDelighted · 24/09/2024 18:10

It's a concentrated disinfectant heavily perfumed with artificial fragrances, really unpleasant to use but useful occasionally.

WeddingShmedding · 24/09/2024 18:11

I know it's very concentrated but I never found it went very far for the price and the scents are rather overpowering.

IamChipmunk · 24/09/2024 18:14

I love the winter and Christmasy smells!
I use it for my floors and the surface spray on counter tops...
Just the places that I actually want disinfecting!

ThisTimeNextWeekDavid · 24/09/2024 18:16

I hate it. Far too perfumed and there’s not been one scent I could get along with.

I had a cleaner who brought her own products. I asked her to not use zoflora (and another similar product I forget the name of). She refused. I got a different cleaner.

Horrid, migraine inducing stuff.

happystory · 24/09/2024 18:17

I'd never heard of it till I met my mother in law! I use it sparingly but good for bins

suki1964 · 29/09/2024 08:24

It is a disinfectant which we dont actually need to be using daily but it does have its uses. Ive always had a small bottle of the original stuff for when we have had sickness bugs in the house and I use a drop to slosh the kitchen bin out but I dont use it willy nilly about the home

I do use a wee drop to wipe down the banisters and rads, I like the smell and it lingers and keeps my dog and cat home smelling fresh

wickerlady · 29/09/2024 08:29

I use it for the bins only. It's too strong and toxic to be using on anything else really.

My floors don't get dirty enough but if I had pets I'd possibly put a v v small amount in the mop bucket.

It's not a new thing as many others have said but they pass it around the Mrs Hinch and Stacey Solomon marketing wheel and their followers buy it in bulk. Odd really but there you go.
