Washing machine trap emptying

How do you do this as easy as possible without making a mess? Ie dirty water all over the floor. Any tips/ hacks appreciated Thanks

Get a baking tray and angle it under the trap. Actually I use the deep metal tray that came with the oven. There shouldn't be loads of water in there.

A tray or shallow tub to catch the water that comes out. A couple of tea towels to mop up spills
