Have lived here for 2 years and haven't really tackled the floors, they are now loooking a bit dry and faded and frankly a bit dirty again! I had a go with the corridor last year but applying the wax was such a faff, the polishing off was ok if slow, with my 1960's buffing machine (bought with the house) Any tips for how to get a nice clean polished floor without masses of work involved, please?

Have it treated and sealed.

Then all you need to do is wipe it.

We have parquet but its varnished which means I can just mop it with a wood cleaner in water. We bought it as reclaimed parquet so once we fitted it we sanded it back and then varnished. I guess that would be a pain for you to do though with it being waxed?

Could you look into whether or not there is a a more modern waxing/polishing machine out there? Try a hire company or specialist floor company

It's applying the wax that is the pain cos you have to do it in small quantities and i can't work out how to do it without getting down on hands & knees then applying the machine after, prhaps if i warmed the wax? Can't afford to do anything radical to it cos the bathroom & kitchen are more of a priority - thanks though
