Spilt diffuser oil on black dress!

Any ideas how to get it out?
New black dress - took it off and left it on the side and knocked the oil out of the diffuser which has spilt everywhere. Any advice I've found online says use baking soda to blot it but that's also not advised for dark fabrics and this is a brand new black dress. I've rubbed some washing up liquid into the spots and rinsed in cool water and it's now hanging up to dry but as it's soaking wet I've no way of knowing if that's worked until it dries. Anything else I can try? I don't have any talcum powder to hand

I think bicarb is the only easy answer for oils - normally I'd leave it on the fabric overnight but if you're concerned about it you could just do it for a very short time.

What material is the dress?

It's a very good degreaser so should remove the majority of it quite quickly.

Try damping slightly, then the washing up liquid and then a copious amount of salt on top to make a thick paste and rub in gently. Leave a short while and then usual washing cycle.
