Freezer help

I'm currently running down my freezer. It needs defrosting but I am moving house and will not be taking it with me. Once it is empty and defrosted do I leave it switched off? At present I don't know if the people moving in will want it so I'm asking with that in mind. I'm curious as to what happens to a freezer that is empty and off.

If they don't want it is there a company who will take it away? There is nothing wrong with it but I don't know if anyone would buy it/take it for free.

You could advertise it on the Olio free app, Nextdoor app or Facebook.
I wouldn’t leave it for the new people without asking them or they may insist you come back and shift it.
The council can collect, but they do charge for this, so listing it free is probably easiest.

When we moved house we defrosted, made sure all was dry and then put a towel at the bottom (slightly coming out) and left the door open.

I know not to leave anything without asking and it would have to be ex h who moved anything if I did as I'll be hours away.
