I just bought a lovely magnifying mirror (normal mirror on other side) https://www.johnlewis.com/john-lewis-rectangular-double-sided-magnifying-pivot-mirror/p231413155?s_ppc=2dx92700079681389510_brand_mixed_BAU&tmad=c&tmcampid=2&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjwrKu2BhDkARIsAD7GBosJVJQIeAuNdAdbbJR1bsTFq6_ehc23kluCtAMZ_E95fAY04ldD328aAuHZEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds.

It has a sticker not to leave by the window but I was going to keep on my dressing table. I suppose I should get a cover for it type thing?

Would it be safe to leave the normal unmagnified side facing the window instead of just take away and put somewhere else when not in use.

I use one on my windowsill (sit on the edge of the bed) but put it up on a shelf to one side whenever I finish using it, it's no bother really.

Yes, turn the plain side towards the window/sun and it will be fine.

My daughter had one as a teenager and brought it downstairs to do her make up in the light of the sitting room window.

She left it there and the cat also went and sat in the window.

Smoke started twirling from the cat and she had begun to smoulder where the magnifying mirror had caught the sun and reflected it on her!

Do not leave the mirror where this kind of thing can happen!

Poor cat ! I was thinking it would be a rare occurrence

My friend came home to a burning smell and found scorch marks on some wooden furniture from a mirror or magnifying glass or similar, can't remember what.

I've just bought one and saw the warning that came with it. Also said not suitable for damp conditions, so no use for my bathroom window where I wanted to put it . Really liked it but think I might send it back

i cover the mirror everyday with a black cloth, like a victorian. :D

Joan Collins had a fire in her flat due to this!

I've contacted the company and told just to keep it with a full refund. That says a lot
