WWYD if you had accidently filled dishwasher with multi surface cleaner in place of rinse aid?

Bought ecover rinse aid for the first time yesterday which is in the same bottle as the multi surface cleaner with a different coloured lid, a fact that dawned on me after tipping half a bottle of the multi surface cleaner into the rinse aid reservoir.

Will i now poison my family with contaminated plates? Or am i going to have to face the embarassment of contacting ecover and explaining my foolishness.

Disclaimer: have two week old baby and non sleeping, heavily teething toddler and coming downstairs to full dishwaher with plates on counter above is pretty irritating when dh could have started it last night. Even my two year old said 'sakes' in huffy voice as she spied dirty plates inside!

If its not too late, I'd take the dishes out, run the dishwasher empty a couple of times then run it with the plates in. Then I'd ring ecover or email them and complain that their packaging is too similar.

I think the packaging is an environmental thing but i have to admit they both do clearly state on the front in writing what they are but i didnt read it. How many times will i have to run in to get it all out? Will i have cleaned the dishwasher though?

Just keep it on a quick rinse till all the liquid id out of it i.e. till it needs topping up with the correct stuff. But bet it is the cleanest dishwasher around

Its probably the same stuff with just a different lid lol.

dont have quick rinse programme, just soak and normal washing ones.... have over filled reservoir with water to try and flush it out dishwasher is running now

both products contain the same ingrediants but the multi surface cleaner has soap, perfume (limonene) and a presrvative as well.

am cross at myself if i have dishwasher running repeatedly i wont be able to do laundry today due to poor drainage here.

Can you just move the dial around on the machine like advance it to say half way through a wash that would speed it up for you.
