How to keep home clean?

Hi all,

I thought my home was clean but recently I've noticed it's not clean and I feel a bit embarrassed.

The skirting is dirty, there is cobwebs in the corner of ceilings and furniture. Dust up the staircase. The windows are manky and gross, especially when you open them. There are marks all over my kitchen cubpoard some food stuff. Doors seems to collect dust, like can't believe how much dirt is on my doors.

I grew up in a really unclean house but I've always prided my self in being tidy but I've clearly missed spots.

How do you do all the cleaning how do you stay on top of it. I don't feel like I've got the energy to do it or the motivation. Having a clean home is so important to my mental health and now where ever I look I just feel it's dirty and honestly it is bad. How have I just figured this out at age 24? I'm so embarrassed

I'm going to start deep cleaning today, but any advice?

I only clean in the school holidays. Term time, we have a cleaner. School hols, I clean every room tackling corners, washing curtains, moving heavy furniture etc. I don't do everything every time, but summer hols, all curtains, blinds and windows get cleaned. Christmas and Easter, other stuff. Half term hols are only a week, so I don't do so much, but I will put salt in dishwasher, descale coffee machine, clear out a cupboard or whatever.

Essentially, every few weeks, I clean some stuff thoroughly. Twice a year, I do some major cleaning and every summer, I try to go through every room decluttering and cleaning.

I live in a small terraced house with just one bathroom. Pets but no kids, and I seriously decluttered in lockdown. I would deal with one room when you have motivation and time and take it from there.
