Laminate floor over ceramic tiles?

has anyone done this please? what kind of underlay did you use? and did you bother filling all the grout lines with smoothing compound first? Planning to have it in the kitchen and there are far too many, very well stuck down, tiles to lift up. Unfortunately they are two different badly matched types, both in a very depressing mottley grey colour otherwise I'd live with them! Thanks in advance! maybe we should start a DIY thread...

I think you'll need to get the tiles up first i'm afraid! Either that or buy some wooden board to lay on top of them first, cut to fit your room (fiddly), then lay the felt underlay etc. If you lay them onto tile it'll look feckin' awful and might not stick very well!

You would probably need to use a self levelling compound on top, laying ply or hardboard may not make it level enough and cause uneven wear.

Yeah, or do that lol.
