Hi all,

I have a 7 week old baby and we’ve just had a mortgage offer on a house. We didn’t plan on buying for the next few years but found our dream home so took the opportunity.

We (DH and I) have been finding it incredibly difficult to keep on top of housework and general organisation as it is, having a new baby and all. Our exchange day has been pencilled in for late September so although we’ll technically have until late October until we move out of our rental flat (don’t want to be paying rent and a mortgage 😬) it really isn’t much time to get a whole flat packed up (we have a LOT of stuff). We’ve decluttered loads already so everything we have, we need really.

any tips or advice on how to stay on top of things and also pack for the move without going mad? I don’t say that lightly. My mental health is taking a bit of a hit because of how disorganised the house is.

thank you 🙂

Can you afford to pay for packers & removals? That's what I'd do.

Hi yeah that’s what we’re going to do but we need to get clothes etc in boxes first. It’s just general organisation that’s the problem

Packers did our clothes. I only did underwear since that seemed a bit personal and shoved it into a carry on suitcase! Definitely do that. We moved twice in DS’s first year (moved out for 6 months to do building work) and I don’t think I could have coped doing it any other way!!

Do get a full pack if you can, it is life saving when you have tiny DC.

Packers did our clothes too. Wardrobe stuff on hangers straight into a hanging box.
