Mattress toppers

Am looking at memory foam mattress toppers (have a quite new, too firm king size mattress) and am overwhelmed by the selection. Is there really any difference between a £30 piece of memory foam from the factory or a Panda £200 bamboo cover one (other than the zip cover?
I already have a soft mattress protector which could go over a piece of memory foam as a cover (presume the foam is ok to sit on top of the mattress
TIA

I have a George memory foam topper which has done me for about 6 years now. I can't compare it to an expensive one because I've never had one but it does it's job, my bed is still comfortable and it's not too warm because of the cooling sheet that comes with it. I would recommend it if they still do them.

Thanks, Asda sell them but not the George one anymore. Having done a bit more research I wonder if I should go for a nice thick microfibre topper

The microfibre toppers are nice but they can go really bunchy and lumpy after a while.. that was my experience anyway, I'm sure lots of people love them.

I found the cheaper ones can make the bed hot and sweaty. They’re comfy otherwise though.

Placemarking because a family member has really hard, uncomfortable beds and this would make all the difference. My poor back when I stay there!

I've bitten the bullet and ordered a 'rejuvenated' Panda topper. Will report back when it's in situ 🛌

Hi Been trying to research toppers and your original post asked the exact thing I was wondering. Hope you don’t mind me asking, just curious how you’re getting on with the Panda topper.

I’m also interested in the rejuvenated option. Was it a winner? 😊

I Have a wool topper on my wool mattress (I love wool bedding)!and it definitely helps with night sweats. There’s a few around but after much research I went for a Floks one.

We have just bought a Panda topper. So much better than anything I’ve had before. It’s on a sprung mattress. We have a memory foam mattress in another bedroom and I don’t like that so much. The panda topper is the best of both worlds.

I have a down/feather topper (from Soak & Sleep) and it's transformed my bed. It's so comfy and feels like sleeping in a 5 star hotel bed. Not a fan of memory foam ones.

SparrowhawkSky · 08/01/2025 17:06

Memory foam (I had the panda topper) made my sore back worse. I have a soak and sleep goose-down topper now, which is really comfy. I think it’s all down to personal taste, wish it was possible to properly try them all out before committing!
