Found them under the rug when I finally lifted it to vacuum today (got a new vacuum as the old one had been crap for ages, so I’d been neglecting the hoovering 😳) No visible legs so some kind of larvae? They gave off a fishy smell when I vacuumed them up and left dents in the carpet and little brown stains 🤢 (The rug is in the bin now!)

Most likely the pupa stage of stage of some type of fly. Once the eggs hatch into maggots, they head for somewhere dark to pupate, and under mats/rugs is very common - found some under a clients mat earlier this week, as per pic.

Woodlice! Is your house damp?

@BabCNesbitt
Looks like there was something about in the last 1-2 weeks to feed maggots.

Oh god. Yes @QueenCamilla @Anotherselfemployedcleaner the bloody cat brought in a dead mouse a couple of weeks ago which I didn’t find for a day or so. That must be it 😭 Thanks!
