Non toxic dishwasher detergent?

There's recently been reports in the media about dishwasher detergent and rinse aid causing gut issues. To do with the products coating our plates, cutlery etc so we're regularly absorbing a tiny bit. I dont normally buy into this sort of thing but this makes sense to me so I'd like to switch to non toxic products.

My research suggests that white vinegar is a straightforward substitute for rinse aid so will try that.

I've had less luck finding a dishwasher detergent substitute, There's lots of subscription sites that promote less plastic, kinder etc but it's unclear if the nasty toxins are still there.

Does anyone have a more informed view on this and / or can suggest non toxic products?

I can believe this as the smell of Finish capsules lingered on plastic microwave dishes and actually taints the food such as frozen peas. I am trying some eco brands.

I just googled "non toxic dishwasher tablets UK" and found these: https://www.peacewiththewild.co.uk/product/dishwasher-ecotabs-100-pack/

They say they're 99% plant and mineral based

I actually use the Smol ones myself and find they do the job just as well as the fairy ones did.

Does vinegar work as rinse aid? My machine gallops through rinse aid so it'd be much cheaper for me if so!

What did you end up using? I am also wanting to stop using pods as I am concerned about the plastic, but not sure what to use instead.
