Nothing works

I've tried Fly lady ages ago. Then tried Organised Mum a bit ago but I never keep it up. I've got too much stuff but have got rid of some. I'm just not motivated. I wish I was though.

That made me laugh. I've got nothing done today. Too much time wasting. But I want the house to be tidier.

Have you tried A Slob Comes Clean?
It’s for people who don’t get it.

This. Start with her book "how to manage your home without losing your mind".

Viviennemary · 01/08/2024 20:22

Thanks. I will have a look at that. Trouble is I don't keep it up.

Do you really want a cleaner home? Or do you just feel like you should want it? Coz there's no law saying you need to sort it out and keep it up...

Tisfortired · 01/08/2024 20:30

To some extent I have just accepted that with two young kids my house will never look how I would like it to look. I’m off work at the moment on extended mat leave and it’s no tidier than it was when I was working FT.

My process (if you could call it that) at the moment is to try and keep the kitchen and dining room clean and tidy all day/after each meal. Completely ignore lounge all day until DC are in bed because attempting to keep on top of it would be a total waste of time. Choose two extra ‘jobs’ a day and do one in the morning and one in the afternoon. I keep a list on my phone of these jobs and if I see something needs doing add it to the list for another day.

This morning AM job was cleaning the back downstairs windows and tidying the garden. PM job was cleaning the bathroom.

Yesterdays AM job was cleaning the microwave and toaster, PM job was stripping beds.

Nothing is ever perfect but it works for me at the moment.

No I do want to be tidier. But can't keep to any kind of routine.

lol, remember the thread here where this older creepy woman was visiting every week her lovely slightly messy single mum with 3 adorable kids and was asking shall she report her to SS because the mum apparently does a lot of washing and has a lot of clothes drying on the go and buys new clothes often for the girls ( how dares she! ) and people were even telling her : yes, yes, report to SS

you have weirdos on here, believe me

Like me, you're going to have to pick one! Bullshit isn't it!
