What vacuum should I get?

Have a Vax Air purchased 2015. It did work great....until I took it to a local vac shop for a service and repair. Now the roller doesn't roll and it's like pushing a buggy through an uphill swamp and the things just pulls up the carpet off the grippers (it never did this before!)

So looking to replace.

Requirements:

  • Easy to manoeuvre
  • lightweight
  • good suction
  • will be used on hard floors and carpets, medium pile.
  • household of 4, no pets, there are 3 of us have long hair and we drop hair everywhere it's a nightmare.
  • corded, long cable
  • will be used on narrow stairs
  • ideally stocked by John Lewis as I have a voucher to use
  • budget - no idea. Probably about £200?

Help me find the perfect vac! TIA

I have and it's the best vacuum cleaner I've ever had. Prior to that I had a Gtec Air Ram and that was OK but not as good as the Henry.

Henry.

Nooooo. Anything but Henry!

(bloody hate mine and wish it would die properly so I could justify buying something else)

I have a sebo. My cleaner tells me it's the best vacuum she uses across the multiple houses she goes to. Available in John Lewis

I've had the same Henry 10 years. I have bought some hand held over the years and still come back to my Henry, does the best job

AShortName · 31/07/2024 07:13

Sebo. Not sure how much they are though.

I absolutely hate my Henry, I really wish I had listened to the negative reviews. Had a Dyson corded for 15 years and it was fab, replaced it with the Henry but it's honestly so shit.
