Bissell Crosswave floor cleaner advice please

I have one and I’m happy with it. Apart from the cost of the recommended Bissell cleaning solution! Now £13-14 per litre bottle. Can I ask please what alternative others might be using in their Bissell Crosswave? Bissell say don’t use alternatives as it could damage the machine. I suspect that’s a marketing ploy and as mine is now out of guarantee I want to try a cheaper alternative cleaning fluid.

I just use ordinary floor cleaner, it seems ok. Although the whole thing is such a faff to take apart to clean, I'm thinking of going back to a mop and bucket.

Thanks for your reply. I think I’ll give it a go. I do like the machine and I find the floors cleaner than with mop and bucket. I like the satisfaction of emptying the mucky water at the end of each session. I need to get out more 😃
