How to get furniture polish (?) off glass

Doesn't matter how it happened, but someone has been round our house and wiped all of the glass interior doors and the bifolds and the back door with a cloth which had been used with lots of furniture polish on it. Oh and the tv and my computer monitor.

I've now been trying for three weeks, and every window is still smeary. I have attempted to cleaned with glass cleaner; with hot water and washing up liquid, with kitchen spray, with vinegar and with vodka. Everything is still smeary.

I spent two hours on them this morning and it's not any better.

Please for the love of god what do I do.

White spirit or meths might help.

(Don't smoke your pipe while using either.)

Actually try a corner of TV and monitor first...

It's sounds awful op, that would annoy me so much!

Your description of events made me chuckle though.

Which furniture polish was it? Waxy?

After my attempts this morning it’s moved from irritating to infuriating!

And yes, we have a waxy Method spray furniture Polish so am assuming it was that. Although I could easily believe by now that it was something created by the devil himself.

Will try white spirit once I’ve finished this pipe…

You have my sympathy op. I came home after work one day to find my daughter in law had polished and everything was all smeared. They were staying with us while waiting to move. I had to live with it for ages (she's so lovely and I really appreciated her trying to help)

I rinsed a microfiber cloth with washing up liquid and squeezed it so the cloth was just lightly damp. Then washed everything down. I then buffed the surfaces with a dry microfiber cloth. Thankfully it removed all the smears. I did have to wash some surfaces twice though.

Good luck, I hope you manage to fix it.
