Hello, the renovations in our house are nearly over and we decided to clean the house ourselves rather than book an after-builder cleaning service (we don't live in the house while the renovation is ongoing). The builder took the old carpets out and so the floorboards underneath were exposed to the dust and general dirt of the renovation works.
The question is what is the best way to clean them before the new underlay and carpet go on top? We have vacuumed multiple times and though this has made a difference it doesn't feel like the dust is fully gone. I feel perhaps some sort of solution involving wetting the floor (mop, wet floor wipes) is called for, but I worry what will happen if the boards don't dry fully before the carpet is laid, or if indeed any of that will work given the large gaps between the boards.
Does anyone have similar experience or know what the after-builder cleaning services do in this case? Am I overthinking it?
Thanks!
