Small green flies

Every morning we get a load of these small green flies in through the window. Does anyone know what they might be and how we can stop it? They also seem to be in the window fittings themselves.

Stage 1.
Do you have house plants?
Could they be inside house?
Keep all your windows closed (l know it's hot!) and see if they appear.
Spray fly spray around the window, take a photo (close up) of the dead bodies if there are any in the morning and send to Council Pest Control who may be able to identify the little critters.
