Help! I have my ante-natal turned post-natal group of friends coming round for coffee later - what should I prioritise on cleaning/tidying-wise so they don't think I'm a scummy mummy?

yellow drips around the loo rim, bits on your carpet and stale smells.

TrinityTheProgressingRhino · 09/04/2008 09:17

brown or yellow stains on the loo rim

claricebeansmum · 09/04/2008 09:18

Skid marks in the loo.

Open the windows to get some fresh air in

Clean the loo and polish taps on basin.

Plump up sofa cushions

anything yucky in the bathroom. If you're going to let them into your kitchen make it look tidy and smell clean or they might get that yeuch feeling when you give them a cup of tea

Dirty carpets are a bit of a issue for me.... I'm not a fan anyway (much prefer wooden floors) but bits, stains etc., on carpets just make me feel icky...

Agree with the loo-stuff from Maidamess.....

For me, I like to open all the windows, clean and then have fresh flowers or scented candles so the house is cool, fresh and nicely scented. (Even if I then end up turning the heating on for a while to warm the place again which I appreciate isn't very environmentally friendly!)

phew! thanks everyone, it seems it's not as bad as I thought! It's more untidy than unclean.
I did the kitchen yesterday after I was talking to my mum on the phone an she asked me whether I was keeping on top of the washing up any better!

It is a bit silly isn't it? But we all play along.... While I was stressing this morning DH said to me 'don't worry, it'll just looked lived in'. I think that's why he still believes in the Laundry Fairy!
