robot hoover docking station

Robot hoover owners - please can you tell me where you put the docking station!
I'm excited to have been given a Beko robot hoover, but struggling to work out where to put the docking station. The instructions say there must be clear space 50cm on each side. The hoover itself is 35cm wide, so I seem to need a clear space 135cm wide for the docking station. I don't have a clear space like that in a suitable place to dock a hoover. Have I understood this correctly?

Sounds about right - they need space to manoeuvre themselves back into position.
we’ve got on down the side of a sofa which has a gap to the floor, one on a long empty wall under a desk and one under our coats in the hallway.
we probably have a bit less than recommended - try it and see how effective yours is at finding it’s way! We’ve double sided taped it to the skirting as well because they do get pushed around

Mine is in a corner behind a table. Have had it a few years so don't remember the requirements but the corner works well as it stops the base moving too much when it shuffles on to charge

Mine stays in the pantry cupboard. I take it out manually and put it away when it's run out of charge. Then get it out again and do the same upstairs

Thanks for the replies. The instructions seem to imply that you can't change the position of the dock as it confuses the hoover, but from your replies it seems I might want to try various places to see what actually works - will the hoover cope? 😁

It'll be fine it only goes back to the docking station to recharge. Like I said I just get mine out and let it run loose!

Upstairs in under a chest of drawers.

Downstairs is under a side table. The space here basically just about fits the Vac. Never has any problems returning home.

Just try it and see.

Ours is under the sofa but I appreciate a lot of sofas aren't tall enough off the ground for this.

I set mine to just randomly bumble around hovering, avoiding whatever objects are in its way that day and it finds its way back to the station. If I put it upstairs I just carry it up and then back down when it’s done. I don’t use the program where it learns the room. The station is under a dresser in the kitchen.
