Why do my baby’s bibs always stink?

I have a few of those long sleeved plastic-y bibs for my DS who is weaning, a couple from IKEA and some from Amazon and somehow they always come out of the wash smelling awful! All my other washing smells fine and I wash them after every use so I have no idea what’s causing it. If I hang them out in the sun they smell nice until the next use/wash, but with the weather being shit I’m struggling to do it every time. It’s honestly driving me a bit mad, has anyone else had this? 😂

sounds like they're not drying quickly enough and going musty?

Mine used to stink. Celebrated they day I got rid.

You could soak in a bicarb solution or wash at 40, if washing cooler. Or an antibacterial solution, like dettol. Or use bio detergent. Use no softener. I don't recall having the smell (having had 3 children), and rarely dried on the line. This sounds unpleasant for you and the baby, I hope you find a solution that works!

They dry quicker than all my other clothes though and none of those smell.

I already use bio detergent but might try soaking in dettol. It’s just so bizarre that they smell so strongly and instantly!

Do they sit around damp before you wash them? Any bits of food on them might be enough dampness to be a breeding ground.

The soaking is a good shout.

No idea, we used the tommy tippee 'rubber' ones so just washed them with the dishes
