Can anyone recommend me a new duvet please?

I need a king size one. My last one was from M and S and the only complaint is it always changed which way round was right 😂. It is years old so I'm wondering what is new in the shop.

I also need a new mattress protector and if I can get both within £100 that would be great.

I've been here long enough to know the drill, I could google, but I'd prefer real life recommendations.

It's a bit more expensive but we've got a wool duvet from woolroom which I really like. Seems very versatile according to the seasons.

Smasporre duvets from IKEA are good.

SurpriseSparDay · 23/06/2024 00:03

I’m currently staying with relatives who don’t have wool duvets.

I have been cold every night.

@BirthdayRainbow , more expensive but really fabulous a wool duvet. I got mine from Devon duvets. X

I have a wool duvet from Piglet in Bed, and I love it with all my heart.

Soak & Sleep do nice duvets, I used to really rate their microfibre and silk one before I got magic wool duvet of happiness.

All new recommendations to me. Thank you. I'll have a look later on and see what I can get.

Also looking for a new duvet, but just for the coldest part of the winter. We spent a lot of money on a Woolroom all seasons duvet 2 years ago and although individually the 2duvets are great when clipped together they are not warm enough. They should then be 13.5 Tog but our old M&S one was much much warmer. The wool ones are great for spring and summer etc but I wouldn’t recommend them if you want a really warm duvet.
I know this goes against the grain as most people rate them really highly , hence us spending a fortune on one .

We love Fogarty Light and Lofty duvets, stocked at Dunelm. A King would be around £70 I think, although you could probably shop around.

We've got a feather one from John Lewis and I love it - so much so I'm buying the exact same one but for our new super king bed which is being delivered in a couple of weeks.

More expensive, but dry cleans really well and is cool and warm.

Wool one if you are anywhere near perimenopause or menopause. So much less sweaty!

I'm allergic to down and feather, only found after buying a very expensive feather duvet...sob.

Nearlyadoctor · 24/06/2024 17:38

@fr4zzledmum - do you have a link please

NannyR · 24/06/2024 17:41

Wool - I've had a Baavet for years and it's great, not too warm, not too cold.

HundredMilesAnHour · 24/06/2024 17:45

I have a down/feather one from Soak & Sleep. It's fabulous. And a down/feather mattress topper from Soak & Sleep too. I was staying in an AirBNB and their bedding was so lovely and I discovered it was Soak & Sleep and I've been a fan ever since.

Can't stand wool duvets. They're too thin. They're like having a blanket. I need puffy!! (I tried a Baavet wool duvet but I hated it).

After trying several mattress protectors, all of which appeared to have sides made of tissue paper, I finally stumbled across a great one at John Lewis. I think it's probably this one:

This is all great, thank you. I'll have to look as not had chance but I will!

We've all got Asda duvets. Perfectly reasonable and cost about £17 for king size. Get your mattress protector there too and you can still have change to do your weekly shop! Well almost 😝

BirthdayRainbow · 24/06/2024 23:40

Dog just threw up on my bed, has gone through my quilt cover onto the quilt so I'll be hitting Asda tomorrow to buy one! All best laid plans...
