dishwasher crisis

...well, maybe crisis is a bit strong but it's stopped doing its cleaning thing properly and all of the stuff on the top rack is scummy and dirty still even on the longest hottest cycle. Dh isn't interested in helping this morning and so I've stropped and said I'll sort it. Have cleaned the obviously cleanable bits. It's a Bosch Classixx what else should I do. HAven't touched the murky area where salt goes ...should I?

Get your instruction book out and give it all a good clean.

You could also buy a dishwasher cleaning product and run it through the (empty) dishwasher first, to clear the worst of the grot.

those things that go in the dishwasher and wash it worked well on mine - about £5 and you put it in and run dw empty.

Funnily enough, ours did this the other day - it is a very old Zanussi. Have you topped up the rinse aid and the salt and cleaned the filter?

Thanks. The instruction manual trapped beyond rescue in the filing cabinet which someone sat on and now the drawers won't open is the salt thing easy to sort? Especially whilst making papyrus woven paper with dd1 and making a hearty soup ready for lunch simultaneously!

My dishwasher does that occasionally and its because one of the spinners that shoot the water out is being stopped from going round by an obstruction like a knife in the way or a plates too big....

toppped up rinse aid, lobbed in some salt, running it now, filters cleaned but spookily clean anyway, considering!

You can check to see if there is a blockage in the spray arms. It's quite easy for a piece of sweetcorn to clog up holes.
