To regularly clean my house alongside me for a few hours? She’s so good. House would look awesome after she’d finished with it. What would you pay?

Whatever the going rate for a cleaner is. Depends where in the country you are but around £15 an hour seems about average.

Well you cant really pay a decent cleaner less than £15 per hr - lots pay a fair bit more.

Is she doing it as a job (so she'd need going rate), or as a one-off favour? If the latter would a nice gift / meal out be more appropriate?

caringcarer · 13/06/2024 23:13

£15 an hour is fair.

All our local agencies charge £20 per hour now.

Thanks guys. Really helpful. I thought she could clean alongside me then I can cook lunch for her before she leaves. Thanks for your replies.

Don’t do it. My DSis lost her BF this way. You need someone who is working for you not someone that you know well. It can really change a friendship when you have to tell someone they haven’t done something to your standard or they let you down one week when you really needed a clean and tidy house.

SquishyGloopyBum · 14/06/2024 06:27

Does she want you to be a cleaner?

Don't blur the lines by cleaning alongside her and cooking her lunch. You wouldn't do that with another employed cleaner.
