limescale in kettle

how can i clean the limescale from my kettle? preferably with out using nasty chemicals?

vinegar!

You can use the citrate tablets they use for baby bottle sterilisers. See Mothercare or similar.

white vinegar. And you have to boil it in the kettle.

oh the hallowed white vinegar! that stuff cleans everything, will go to shops in a bit and get some, kids need a run round the park anyway they giving me a headache

so when i have the white vinegar how much do i need to put in? and do i literally just put the vinegar- no water?

my gran used to put one of her steradent tablets in the bottom of the kettle and leave it in over night with some hot water

worked great! i use it in my teapot

I usually fill about a third of the kettle with white vinegar and sometimes top it up with a bit of water. It does depend on how bad the limescale is.

oh always worked ok for me, comes off really easily

its not bad limescale just a little. wanted to attack it before it gets bad iyswim.

have to do it another day wheni go into town just tried all 3 of my local shops and none has white vinegar, just malt and distilled malt
