Have I just fooked up our new boiler?

They finally finished installing it this morning, it was covered in grubby handprints so I cleaned it and noticed what looked like a bit of sellotape around the hole (where you can view the pilot light) I pulled and it seems to be covered in a layer of thin clear plastic. Is it okay to carry on and pull this off, or is it there for a reason?

I hope I can rip it off, not only will it be immensly satisfying, but if I can't the whole thing will fast look grubby and old.

I honestly don't know as we haven't got our new boiler yet. Is it there for a purpose?

We need a new boiler so are interested in what you got, where from and how much if not too cheeky?

I am hoping it is protective film which they just didn't bother to remove.
I have no idea how much it cost tbh, we had it installed by british gas, on discount as we are customers and they haven't billed us for it yet.
