Wool Carpet Woes

We had (pretty damn expensive) wool carpets from Tapi laid in our lounge, landing, stairs and bedrooms 3 months ago. They already look really worn and bobbled despite being advertised as hardwearing and recommended for high traffic areas.

We have no pets and there are only 3 of us in the house. We are vacuuming with the right type of hoover (Miele cylinder, no beater brush just suction). Tapi have said this is normal pilling which will settle and to use a lint roller which we have tried but it still looks awful, like a wool jumper that's gone all bobbly in the wash. Any suggestions? We are raising a complaint but thought I'd post on here to see if there's any words of wisdom.

We had much cheaper wool carpets in our old house that didn't have this issue so it can't be something that we are doing, and also you can see a big difference between low and high traffic areas so it's definitely the carpet and not us!

Sounds like Tapi are fobbing you off.

It's a smaller carpet company but supplied and fitted by Tapi so Tapi have contacted them on our behalf and the guy I spoke to from Tapi did agree it doesn't look great (we sent photos). Funnily enough there's a Google review of that company that had the same issue as us, not sure how if/how it was resolved though. Tbh it's really put me off wool carpets so if they get replaced I'm tempted to choose a standard non textured carpet that most people choose (forgot the name) even though I really dislike that two tone hoover line thing!

Bobbles have been common on my new carpets over the years. They do stop soon enough.

Hello we have the same problem from Tapi! did anything get resolved? I’m so unhappy with the carpet :(

@Bloome22 They microsheared it (basically shaved off the top layer of fuzz), it does look better but still unhappy with the carpet generally. It doesn't seem to lay as flat as it should and it just doesn't look new. It's so frustrating. Which manufacturer made yours? Because ours was made by a smaller 'premium' company but just supplied and fitted by Tapi so I'm wondering if you've chosen a carpet by the same manufacturer!
