How can I make a rented house feel "loved"?

We've in a rented house, and it's all tatty magnolia paint and mismatching door handles, but I don't want to do anything permanemt as we coud find a better place any minute (we're looking, but there's not much going) and we'd have to paint over it with the samke magnolia before we left. So any ideas for non-permanent personalistions?

We have a wall (well, most walls) in our rented house covered in photos/postcards/pictures (and I mean covered) that matter to us.

Posteres on the doors, flowers in pots, tat everywhere.

It feels loved.

curtains and cushions and rugs - and furniture if it's unfurnished - you can take them with you.

Lamps - they make a place look much more homely than big lights.

And put up some pics of your family to give it some ownership.

I always try to have a big pot of flowers outside in the summer so the garden feels like mine, but then I can take it with me and don't feel like I have abandoned it!

I would say some nice art. Flowers and little herb pots on the window sill. We rent out houses but they are lovely and I did some warmer colours in the bedrooms and in the kitchen nothing stops you from painting them aslong as they are back to neutral colour when you leave.

Our tennants love the colours and interiors so much they ask where I buy things from. I bought some gorgeous hall lanterns and some of the familes have me ordering them some. So changing light shades could help.

Though the flats we are doing wil be very neutral as thing this will get more used.
