Carpet eating bugs - prevention

Auburngal · 21/05/2024 22:23

I have two small bald patches on my hallway carpet. Caused by those horrible carpet eating bugs.

I have been vacuuming the area 90% of the past 4 weeks. Anything to stop them?

Dont have any pets.

Do you mean wool moths?

We had these in our pub but just in a couple of areas and eventually had to get in specialist cleaners to sort them out. Our cleaners would do the same as you but they still carried on eating - my husband left his Kashmir cardigan in the pub and when we looked at it later they had eaten lots of one sleeve. I saw a programme on TV recently about a stately home that had them and their cleaners were on their hands and knees every day with a head torch and tweezers looking for them and it was an ongoing daily job.

If you have an infestation then at this time of year you will often find the beetles on your window sill so make sure that you are wiping these down every day. Then just hoover every day making sure that you get into all nooks. We occasionally getting a few carpet beetles but never had any damage caused by them.
