Hello, this post was posted by someone else in 2017. Currently AO.com have an AEG Washing Machine for £230 less than John Lewis.

Also has anyone thoughts on AEG v Miele? LOoking at the Miele £699.00 model in John Lewis v AEG same price model.. however can get the latter much cheaper off AO.com

Thank you.

We have had several big items that were cheaper than Argos and never had problems

Nsky62 · 20/05/2024 13:14

I bought an AEG washing machine , with steam functions, from AO, in feb, fab, paid £520 with disposal, connection and fitting.A slim depth of 57cm, and 5 yr warranty

iworkinauni · 20/05/2024 13:14

We use AO for most things now

Tarkan · 20/05/2024 13:19

If they're still going (it's been a few years since I last used them) then look for Boots Kitchen Appliances as it's AO who provide things there, but you also get advantage points on purchases which really adds up. I got my tumble dryer from there for the same price as the AO main site but I don't know if they'll have the same deals when things are marked down.

Bumblebeeinatree · 20/05/2024 13:24

AO were good but lost me a when they rang to see how the delivery went, great I thought, then rambled on trying to sell me insurance not so good.

Anawi · 20/05/2024 13:24

Yes, they're one of the first places I go to look now. We have had a freezer, washer, dryer and vaccuum cleaner from them. All decent prices & quick delivery. Not had a problem.

Abitorangelooking · 20/05/2024 13:25

I used to buy everything from John Lewis but now use AO. I’ve found them really good customer service wise.

PoochiesPinkEars · 20/05/2024 13:25

Used ao a few times and been a positive experience each time.
What they're like at fixing it if something goes wrong I couldn't tell you, but they've never messed me about.

YouveGotAFastCar · 20/05/2024 13:26

AO are great. Ignore the calls - you don't need them, you'll get all delivery info in emails and texts, and the calls tend to lean heavy on the insurance side.

They did manage to break our piping when they installed our first washing machine - or it was broken, but wasn't leaking before - but the installers were really upfront and honest about it, reported the issue, and before they'd even got our old one onto their van, HQ had authorised us to find someone to repair it and settle the bill. They paid us really quickly and checked in a few weeks later to make sure it was all good.

Everything else we've had from them has been flawless, but it's good to know they handle problems well!

Ruelzdontapply · 20/05/2024 13:34

Ordered a washing mashine for my neighbour had no issues at all.
When I next need a big appliance I will use them for myself.

CJ0374 · 20/05/2024 13:40

I ordered a bosch washing machine from AO a few years ago. No issues with the product, just the delivery. Told it would be friday, so waited in, then nothing. From memory I called AO and was told the driver had attempted delivery and left a card! They hadn't, I have a camera and they left no card. Maybe a one off, because it was before a bank holiday and we lived on a busy, London main road. Another driver delivered it the next day.

Recently bought a miele. They have an outlet with various grades of products. We bought both A and B grade models, along with new ones, for various appliances in a new kitchen and no issues. The outlet pricelist changes daily, so if you know the model, just check it daily till you find it on offer. It washes fine, but I can't say the expensive was worth it being several times more than my old bosch one. If you buy from miele direct and you have a blue light card, you get 20% off, but need to call them(not on outlet stock though)

Yes they're good in general but you do need to allow for the fact that they'll take up five minutes of your time afterwards giving you the hard sell on warranty insurance.

Agree with this.

Not a washing machine but a tumble dryer from AO.

They were great, good pricing and good customer service.

Of course for customer service John Lewis is by far the best but it often comes at a price premium.

Houseplantmad · 20/05/2024 14:34

I prefer AO to other retailers now and have refitted two kitchens recently. Both times they were great.

Blueuggboots · 20/05/2024 14:34

I've bought quite a few things from AO. They're great! They also have a damaged goods website - I got a massive fridge freezer for £150 less than it should have been because it had a scratch on the side of it. They photograph any damage so you know what the damage is before you buy it.

I won’t use them any more because of the continual phone pestering. It went on for months last time I bought something and eventually I blocked their number.

VolvoFan · 20/05/2024 14:47

I have. They might pester you at first trying to sell you insurance and whatnot, but just be firm and say you don't want it, they'll eventually leave you alone. Otherwise they're very good.

It was a couple of years ago but the guys delivered it and plumbed it in for me and took the old one away. Very efficient and no problems with it so far touch wood.

anniegun · 20/05/2024 14:53

Switched to AO when John Lewis's customer service went to shit. They have been fine and we have used them a lot

SOxon · 13/06/2024 08:19

We were JL devotees for 30+ years, for everything household, after the dreadful (lack of) customer service, treated like nuisances over a newly installed faulty cooker when we experienced for the THIRD time, in a different branch, the phenomenon of
’Customer Blaming’
The last straw.
Never again, we agreed.
AO all the way,
Prompt, next day delivery, they will remove packaging too, which is helpful.
The first time we used them, we had early evening phone calls attempting to sell insurance, under cover of Customer Care enquiries, but that was twelve years ago and they seem to have calmed down considerably.
Once the appliance is delivered/installed successfully, if you don’t answer the
unknown 0161 number then you will not hear the insurance sell.

We bought a Miele Classic washer which seems indestructible, Electra, Beko!
are fine.
I believe Bosch has had its day and its star is fading fast.
We have Miele and AEG vacuum cleaners.
If I was starting again I would have Miele everything, head and shoulders above everything else

renoleno · 13/06/2024 08:33

I got mine recently from currys as they also took my old one away and recycled it, and did a good job installing an integrated piece. They had delivery slots and called an hour before arriving. And no phone pestering for insurance or spam. Prices were definitely cheaper than JL but not sure about AO. I wanted the option of a place that would also do repairs and had a store I could visit if needed.

LividPink · 13/06/2024 08:35

If you’re in the nw, one of the AO delivery chaps is exceedingly handsome and has that twinkle in his eye that made me reconsider my No More Marriages rule.

Shame I’ve replaced all my appliances already and don’t need more…

marmaladeandpeanutbutter · 13/06/2024 08:36

I would buy a washing machine from wherever. Any maintenance is by national contractors with the manufacturer in any case.
