Where do you keep…

  1. Bed linen
  2. bath towels
  3. suitcases if you live in a house without a loft/cellar?

The bed linen and towels are bulky and I don’t think we have an excessive amount. They need to be easily accessible, as we change them regularly.

We keep all towels and bedding for our bed in a huge wooden chest in our bedroom and in a similar chest on the landing of 2nd floor for the teens. Also in the wardrobe drawer in one guest room and in the sofabed of another. We try to keep it where it's needed.

Towels - in the family bathroom
sheets etc - airing cupboard
suitcases - in my sisters storage room . We only keep overnight / weekend bags at home and they are in a wardrobe .

Bedding and towels in large walkin in cupboard. . I don't have any suitcases

Roundandroundtheworld · 12/05/2024 01:31

All towels and bed linen in a huge basket in our bedroom. Suitcases are used often so under the bed of whoever has last used it!

itsalwaysthesame · 12/05/2024 01:55

Bed linen in my ottoman bed, spare duvets in the suitcases in my ottoman bed, as are extra blankets a few guest towels.

Family towels, we each have 3 bath, 3 face which are a different colour for each of these are kept in wardrobe on shelves, when using they hang on bedroom hook on door (kids use floor, bed or chairs) 🙄

bathroom hand towels are under bathroom sink in a cupboard. I've a tiny bathroom and no airing cupboard

Thanks everyone
I probably should have said that we don’t have an airing cupboard. We used to have a hallway walk-in cupboard that now is a small laundry area.
Will check out the various nook and crannies. We probably need a clear out of our wardrobes as well!

Before we had an airing cupboard, in plastic boxes/drawers under the bed. We only keep one spare bedding set and towel pp (plus a swimming towel) so there isn't a load of stuff to store.

Suitcases nested inside each other and under beds or on top of wardrobes.

We don’t have an airing cupboard either. We have an ottoman bed - this gives quite a lot of storage where we store the bedding, linen, and towels in zip storage bags. Works well!

DistractMe · 12/05/2024 22:53

I'm very invested in this thread as I am getting increasingly frustrated with the storage in my house. We live in a mid terrace house - no garage or cellar and no room spare to turn into a storage zone. There is a shed in our back yard, but it's a bit damp.

Our bed is an ottoman with one drawer that already houses bedlinen.

There is a large cupboard in the bathroom for towels, a couple of suitcases and a bag of coat hangers (that last one I could probably declutter away tbh). I don't actually own a wardrobe, my hanging clothes go on a shop rail in my bedroom. We have a decent sized cupboard under the stairs, which currently houses some tools, bike accessories and some shelving, which we use as a pantry for tinned and packet food.

So the problem that's really bugging me is what do do with all the out of season duvets and spare pilows. We've quite a few extras for occasional guests. I've got them bagged up with nowhere to go.

Any suggestions?

I suppose I could put the suitcases under the stairs and shove a few duvets in the bathroom cupboard. And maybe I need to reduce the numbers a bit.

GodOfTheOldTestament · 12/05/2024 23:01

Why don’t you get some of those compression storage bags, and put the extra pillows and duvets in there? Then put the compression bags in the suitcases, and store the suitcases where you think best — bathroom or under the stairs.
