Help! My washing machine is leaving deposits on clothes, it looks like when your steam iron or kettle needs descaling. Do I need to use calgon or something else? Thank you.

Are you filling it too full?
Or you could try cleaning it by putting a couple of tablespoons of vinegar in the drum and sticking it on the boil wash (with no clothes in it, obviously ).

Have you cleaned the filter recently?

Thank you mablemurple, yes sometimes I do overfill it, can't resist emptying the laundry basket. I'm going to do the vinegar thing right now.

My washing machine left black 'rachety' marks on my clothes when the bearings were going - does it sound really loud when it's spinning? We had to have them replaced - luckily had insurance on it.

Stop using those little sachets if you use them. They can cause deposits, powder is much better as more abrasive.

Agree with probably overstuffing machine, but we all do this don't we?? (Well, I do!)
