Cleaning

I am new to the site and male. I work part time (by choice) and my partner works full time. Since I have been working part time I do the lions share of housekeeping - cleaning, washing, cooking, shopping etc and I am happy to do so as I think it is only fair - also we choose to have cats and dogs as pets. I just wanted to say I have a new found admiration for what my mother had to deal with! Keeping the house clean and tidy is seemingly a never ending role that just keeps on giving!

I do struggle with putting a quilt cover on and can never seem to get it right, in the end I do but it takes ages 🤣. Hoovering needs doing if not on a daily basis then at least every other day. Bagging up rubbish along with recycling adds to the day.

The person who says housework isn’t real work has obviously never done it properly!

do you have children together?

have you only recently started this arrangement?

and weren’t you doing this before going part time when you were both full time?

You are new to housework?

even with Pets, keeping a 2 adult house clean is not hard? Not sure your point?

ExcellentCat · 05/05/2024 17:17

I always think it says something that people have written books on it. Pets make it harder as do children, although some people seem to do it more effortlessly than others (probably do more, more often tbh).
this is generally a nice supportive board with help if you get stuck :)
but you’ll find it’s not news to most of us that it’s proper work ! Grin

We have 6 cats and 2 dogs. We have a large house. I am just saying that housework can be looked down on as if it’s not real work. I wasn’t really trying to make a point, more of an experience now that I am doing it regularly. We moved house and got more pets ( all by choice). I’m not expecting violins or anything! 😀
