We've had our coffee maker for about 3 years and the coffee it makes is now revolting. I've bought a new one and the coffee is great - so it must be the old pot, right? I've scrubbed it out, but no luck. What I'm thinking is that, when I used to work in cafes, we had to clean the coffee machine with a special substance - it was white grains I think - at the end of the day. Is there something similar you can use on a stove top maker? I'm guessing there is a build up of gunge in the spout or something.
