Whether that be the home itself or the surrounding area

In a half way house when I was 15 - I remember laying curled up on my bed in this sad little room listening to the sound of the druggies and other scary adults outside. The toilet was shared down the hall, so I hated that too.

I'd moved there from a teenagers shared accommodation, where I was chased out with a hammer by a gang who lived in the street after one resident set fire to my bedroom.

In a weird twist, my first privately rented flat a few years later was in the building of the half way house, which was an old b&b building and had been converted. My flats kitchen was in my old bedroom, and my bathroom (with luxury double walk in shower) was in the old shared bathroom!

My current house!

I love it but it is my first house and it is a period property that turned out to need more work than expected so it gives me a lot of anxiety about how I am going to pay for all the works to fix previous botched jobs and upgrade the house...

Above a fried chicken shop behind a Sainsbury’s with unfriendly housemates in a dodgy bit of London. Middle of the night bottle deliveries or something - a lot of clanking glass every night. Constant vile smell. Lived in a box room. Grotty dangerous bathroom.

I lived above an off licence, where i also worked.
It was bloody horrible living and working there.
It was only when i moved/left the job that i realised that I had a constant hum of low level anxiety.

There was a kebab shop across the road and the fellas would often pop in to buy a Red Bull.
And the smell they emitted was awful, so you have my sympathies for living above it.
