Can I get nail varnish out of the rug and sofa?!

I have no idea how I managed to practically fling a bottle of nail varnish up into the air and splatter it everywhere. But I have.

Now our pale grey sofa and multicoloured new rug have bright pink polish stains!

The acetone nail varnish remover got it off the laminate flooring fine.

Did some googling but there's all conflicting stuff online. Used some nail varnish remover on the rug and it has faded it a bit but it still looks terrible. And not sure whether that would be ok for the sofa?

Has anyone had a similar accident before and any words of wisdom?!

Tbf, the sofa is ruined with nail varnish on it anyway, so the remover would be worth a shot. Is your remover acetone free though? Many are these days.

”Use an acetone-based removerSoak a microfibre cloth in an acetone-based nail polish remover. First, check that the solution does not discolour the fabric by testing on the seam, or a less visible part of the garment. Dab the nail varnish stains with the cloth until the nail polish stain colour has faded.”

Hah yeah, true I suppose. It's at the bottom and can be hidden with sofa covers anyway but it's still infuriating. Often we have the covers in a way such that they don't cover the very bottom of the sofa which is how they were today and that's exactly where the nail varnish splattered up, obviously. It was literally like something in a film!

My nail varnish remover definitely has acetone in it.

Can you scrape the rug with a razor blade?

That's the only way I got nail varnish out of my DDs bedroom carpet.
